The Company:
My client is a dynamic young merchant energy trader in Geneva with huge backing from its parent.
They have recently decided to expand their structuring/structured trading activity, so are bolstering all aspects of that.
The Group, the Needs:
Their Risk group is unusual: solely Risk Management, with risk reporting&monitoring the responsibility of the back office. In practice, this means:
they are very small: 5 people. A 15:1 Originator:Risk ratio!
they get actively involved in all new complex products --from proposal through to completion
they work on a LOT of different things in any week: you will "need flexibility... and a high tolerance for caffeine"
the focus is Commercial, and their input carries real weight
They're adding a few roles to the team, but a key one is as senior a risk analytics guy/gal as they can get. Senior, good market experience, and a commercial attitude. Capable of guiding and leading the existing good but relatively academic quants.

Internal risk model development
Model validation
Soft:
Liaising & negotiating during deal structuring with the other parties to the deal: the traders, the originators, the structurers, and the pricing quants
Guiding and leading the less experienced risk quants
