Trading Accountant required for global trading company in Geneva

The Trading Accountant will work closely with Traders, IT professionals, and other accounting professionals.

The Trading Accountant plays an active role within the organisation which provides the unique opportunity of experiencing and learning the business of commodity trading from multiple perspectives.

Candidates for the job should possess strong critical thinking skills and have a demonstrable ability to not only solve problems, but also to help implement those solutions throughout the business.

Candidates should be proactive, team-oriented, possess good interpersonal communication skills, and demonstrate an enthusiasm and passion for the work that underscores the candidate’s dedication to pioneering improvement and to driving change.

As well as reporting to the Traders and executing trade support functions, the Trading Accountant also helps to define processes and roles that can be adopted throughout the company workforce, aligning software and users to ensure efficient functionality.

Applicants should be effective facilitators who excel in applying accounting concepts and principles to real-world trading transactions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide Daily Trading Position reports and Profit & Loss reports to the Traders
  • Understand all components of the trading PNL in order to review and provide comments to the Traders
  • Initiate cooperation and communication within the company to improve processes
  • Streamline and improve existing processes
  • Provide Traders with daily hedge orders
  • Maintain efficient and regular inventory accounts
  • Enact trade settlements and cash forecasting
  • Share knowledge across accounting/business teams
  • Collaborate with back office accounting on data controls and data integrity

Requirements and Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years trading accounting (or similar) experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance and/or Accounting
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, interactive business environment
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Team-oriented individual with advanced technical skills
  • Fluent English, written and spoken

Preferred:

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and other software tools
  • Working knowledge of petroleum trading and trading fundamentals
